Wilhelm Schmidt , urodzony dnia16 lutego 1868w Hoerde ( Dortmund ) i zmarł dalej10 lutego 1954w Fribourg , jest niemiecki ksiądz , misjonarz z Towarzystwa Boskiego Słowa , językoznawca , etnolog i historyk religii .
Biografia
Kiedy był profesorem na Uniwersytecie we Fryburgu ( Szwajcaria ), założył tam czasopismo Anthropos w 1906 roku, które jest nadal publikowane. Był wielkim pogromcą psychoanalizy w imieniu Kościoła katolickiego z powodu swojego panseksualizmu i ataku na chrześcijańską rodzinę, który według niego ukrywał dzieło Zygmunta Freuda .
Jest szczególnie znany z tego, że podjął ogromne i nauczył się badań etnologicznych i antropologicznych, które ukazały prymitywny monoteizm u początków ludzkości, poprzedzając jego późniejszą degradację do politeizmów.
Ten prymitywny monoteizm byłby dla niego w związku z prymitywnym objawieniem jedynego Boga ludzkości poza Ewą i Adamem.
Wraz z biskupem Le Royem był głównym aktorem w etnologii katolickiej, która reagowała i kwestionowała historię świeckich religii oraz pozytywistyczną i ewolucyjną etnologię.
Jego prace są dziś uważane za przestarzałe przez naukę religii.
