Obwód Irlandii ( Circuit of Ireland Rally , lub potocznie Circuit ) to coroczny konkurs samochód rajdowy na asfalcie walczył głównie w Ulsterze (start i meta) oraz w Irlandii , z ponad osiemdziesiąt lat istnienia.
Historia
To jeden z najstarszych rajdów na świecie, którego organizacja odcinków specjalnych została zainspirowana Rajdem Monte-Carlo . Jest organizowany przez Ulster Automobile Club .
W 1936 r. Jego podróż przez pięć dni przemierzyła całą Irlandię przez ponad 1740 km i nadała temu wydarzeniu ostateczną nazwę (wyjazd i przybycie do Bangor ). Ronnie Adams wygrał ten wyścig w 1936 roku, a następnie jako pilot. Brał udział w sumie w 15 edycjach, nigdy się nie poddając, chcąc ukończyć tam swój ostatni konkurs, w 1963 roku w wieku 47 lat.
Przez kilka lat ten rajd po asfalcie był najdłuższym na świecie, przyciągając znanych kierowców, takich jak Henri Toivonen , Hannu Mikkola czy Pentti Airikkala (zwycięzca w 1979 roku, jedyny dotychczas spoza Wielkiej Brytanii). Jimmy McRae (ojciec Colina , również zwycięzca w 1991 r.) Wygrał ją 7 razy w latach 80. (1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988 i 1989), Paddy Hopkirk 5 razy wcześniej (1958, 1961, 1962, 1965 i 1967) ), a ostatnio jego rodak Derek McGarrity (2003, 2004, 2005, 2010 i 2011).

Liczy się do mistrzostw Wielkiej Brytanii (BRC) i Irlandii (Irland Gravel) i nie został wybrany w 2013 roku do ponownego wprowadzenia do mistrzostw Europy ze względu na brak środków organizacyjnych ( dlatego preferowano rajd Wysp Kanaryjskich ).
Rzecz odbywa się w 2014. Mistrzostwa Europy rajdy teraźniejszości zawiera jako 5 th rundzie.
